One of the planet’s major challenges: Plastic waste.

Approximately 10% comes from the fishing and shipping industries, including fishing nets, ropes, fish boxes, and similar materials. Scientists warn that more than 12 billion tons of plastic will end up in our seas and oceans by 2050 if no solution is found. In other words, there could be more plastic than fish in the oceans by weight.
From marine waste to high-quality “green” plastic
From plastic waste of the fishing sector (fishing nets, mooring lines, trawls, and ropes) to high-quality “green” plastic.
As a result of this initiative, NILO developed a range of liquid detergents and cosmetics under the brand name “reoceanum.” The reoceanum line incorporates recycled plastic raw material into its packaging, sourced from plastic waste originating from the shipping and fishing industries (used fishing nets, trawls, mooring lines, and ropes). In addition, it features exclusively vegan formulations, free from animal-derived ingredients and not tested on animals.
The “reoceanum” eco-friendly product line includes:
LIQUID DETERGENTS:
COSMETICS:
18%
less CO2 emissions
89%
less electricity consumption
A circular process is followed for the production of Green Plastic, where used fishing nets, trawls, and ropes are collected, washed, sorted, and transformed into high-quality raw material in pellet form. Subsequently, this Green Plastic is converted into environmentally friendly product packaging.
The use of Green plastic contributes to an 85% reduction in carbon emissions compared to virgin plastic. One ton of Green Plastic results in a reduction of 1.7 tons of CO2 emissions globally compared to virgin plastic. By using Green Plastic as the primary raw material choice, our planet saves 1.65 tons of CO2 equivalent emissions compared to similar virgin plastic.
In this way, we actively contribute to the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

9. Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure 12. Responsible Consumption and Production 13. Climate Action 14. Life Below Water 17. Partnerships for the Goals
The reoceanum product line has already received significant distinctions in competitions. Particularly noteworthy was its award at the Green Awards 2021 by Boussias.
